Under today’s New Moon solar eclipse in Taurus, it was announced today that convicted ex-Enron Corp. CEO Jeffrey Skilling’s more than 24-year prison sentence for his role in the once mighty energy giant’s collapse could be reduced by as many as 10 years. Skilling made a reputation for himself through his massive manipulation of the stock market, as what some would call a bullsh*tter.
The official reason is “a technicality”, in that the sentencing was done improperly for the man who was recorded on tape laughing about the people who lost their homes and life savings due to the false profits he fabricated regarding Enron and the damage it did to the stock market. He became a multi-millionaire due to his “creative accounting”.
The book and film “The Smartest Guys in the Room” detailed the Enron debacle and Skilling’s financial finessing.
Skilling’s got skills
Interestingly, this news comes out as we are hours away from experiencing a New Moon solar eclipse in Taurus. Taurus is symbolized by the Bull and governs the stock market. Skilling showed himself to be one of the financial world’s most callous, cold-hearted and biggest bullsh*tters. He saw himself as above everyone, innocent of any wrongdoing and greatly skilled in his secretive finagling of numbers in an accounting process that led to him becoming richer than rich.
Now, this new moon in Taurus could be the start of a new life for Skilling and maybe even a new beginning as a free man quite soon.
Skilling was convicted in 2006 on 19 counts of conspiracy, securities fraud, insider trading and lying to auditors for his role in the downfall of Houston-based Enron. The company collapsed into bankruptcy in 2001 under the weight of years of illicit business deals and accounting tricks. Many recall that was the start of the unraveling of the veil (Saturn in Scorpio is siting in opposition and undergirding this, calling for secrets to be out and the right thing to finally be done!) covering the modus operandi of Wall Street and the stock market.
Skilling has been in prison since December 2006 and is serving his sentence in a low security facility outside of Denver.
A new moon new beginning for Enron’s financial victims?
His convictions were upheld by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld his convictions in 2009 but that same court vacated his more than 24-year prison term and ordered that he be re-sentenced, citing incorrect application of a sentencing guideline, which it says resulted in a longer prison term than required.
Karma always comes back so it is not surprising to hear that as part of this re-sentencing, there could also be a positive new beginning for victims of Enron’s collapse. With Chiron in Pisces, it appears healing will come now. They will finally get “unstuck” and receive more than $40 million in restitution. The ongoing status of the case has so far prevented the government from distributing Skilling’s seized assets to victims, according to an agreement being currently arranged as part of the re-sentencing.
